THE “EL-CLASICO” OF PSL MATCHES

Peshawar one of the beautiful cities and the capital of the Pakistani province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Quetta is the Capital of Balochistan the southern province of Pakistan. Quetta was known as the little Paris back in the days, the word Quetta is taken from Balochi Language “Koh E Taha” which means between the Mountains. “Koh” in Balochi means “Mountains” and “Taha” means In between. If you look at Quetta geographically it is surrounded by mountains.

Anyhow let’s talk about the respective teams of both the provinces Peshawar Zalmi and Quetta Gladiators, who have produced some nail biting thriller matches in all the seasons of HBL PSL T20. No wonder people call it the “El-Clasico” of the PSL matches whenever they play against each other.
El-Clasico is the name given in football to any match between fierce rivals Real Madrid and FC Barcelona”.

HEAD TO HEAD

Peshawar Zalmi and Quetta Gladiators have played 10 matches against each other so far in the Pakistan Super League. Out of those 10 matches Zalmi has won 5, Gladiators have won 4 and one of their matches ended up in a No Result. 3 of those 10 matches have been playoffs (2 Qualifiers & 1 Eliminator) the two qualifiers have won by Quetta Gladiators and the eliminator was won by Peshawar Zalmi. The best thing about the playoff matches between these two teams is that all 3 matches have been won/lost by 1 run. Quetta won by 1 run in 2016 and 2017 and Peshawar won by 1 run in 2018. They also played the final match of the PSL 2017 at Gaddafi Stadium Lahore which was won by Zalmi. Peshawar Zalmi’s and Quetta Gladiators highest total in the PSL against each other is: PZ-199 and QG-200 scored in a same match which Quetta won by 1 run.
